4 Questions Related to Rhinoplasty Operations

Rhinoplasty (aesthetical nose operation) is one of the most popular methods among all cosmetic surgical applications. Rhinoplasty is a quite difficult surgical operation. But, as at any other surgical operation, the best is to understand what rhinoplasty is about. Understanding the process will minimize the risk of surgical complications and regretting the surgery.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, also known as aesthetic nose operation, is a surgical method developed in order to correct the nose and reshape it. The size of the nose, the angle of the nose or any impact or failure at the nose can be changed with this process. Beside cosmetic purposes, rhinoplasty can also correct congenital or trauma sourced defects of the nose, which cause medical problems.

What to Expect?

As it is the case at other surgical processes, rhinoplasty isn’t perfect, too. Whereby, perfection is a subjective attribute. You might need to think twice prior to the operation when you are expecting to achieve a perfect result. The purpose of rhinoplasty operations is to convert the nose as normal as possible based on the other attributes of the face. The rate of the revisions may be as high as 20% since rhinoplasty is accepted to be one of the most difficult cosmetic surgical methods.

Is It Safe?

This is actually a safe process, when the operations are performed correctly. But sometimes things can go wrong and cause complications. Infections and bleeding are some of the spread faced complications. Weak wound healing and scars can develop after the operation. Bad genes, weak healing reactions, weak cartilages and a weak face can ruin the operation. The general health condition can also affect the results of the operation.

How Is It Performed?

Rhinoplasty is performed after the application of anaesthesia. The process will be without pain, since you will calm down and sleep. The process may last between two to six hours. While the process is performed by opening the nose with an incision at the open rhinoplasty, the operation at the closed rhinoplasty is performed by entering the nostrils without any incision.
